Canadian
Clean Fuel Standard

The Clean Fuel Standard (CFS) is driving transformational change in Canada's path to it's 2030 GHG reduction goals.

 

Established in Q4 2020, CFS Regulations will require liquid fossil fuel primary suppliers (producers and importers) to reduce the carbon intensity of their fuels used in Canada from 2016 levels by around 13%.

NULIFE’s bio-crude oil has a Carbon Intensity (CI) of -15g CO2e/MJ (preliminary). This low CI is valuable, as it supports Canada’s new Clean Fuel Standard and Low Carbon Fuel Standards.

NULIFE will yield a GHG reduction up to 1.7 tonnes of C02e per tonne of waste diverted from landfills.

HOW IT WORKS

Our patented technology creates bio-crude which can be co-processed in existing refinery infrastructure into low carbon intensity fuels.  All while saving the environment, and reducing the need for landfills.

 

No water is consumed to create the bio-crude and no-hazardous by-products are created. 

  

This is the perfect example of the circular economy.  Food and other wastes are transformed into bio-crude that are used to create the fuel we need to power our tractors to start the growing cycle all over again, creating a true circular economy.

RENEWABLE FUEL
FEEDSTOCK OPPORTUNITY

NULIFE's initial approach targets feedstock strains that are already collected, transported, and paid to dispose of. Rather than being transported to landfills, NULIFE collects tipping fees and they are transported directly to us, creating a novel and efficient business model.

 

Feedstocks used include food waste, organics, paper, plastic, biomass, and ag residues.

NATURE'S HTL

Our HTL process mimics how oil was originally created:

  • Organics are mixed with water and when pressure and heat are added, bio-crude oil is formed.  

  • NULIFE can do this in under 2 hours!

TECHNOLOGY VALIDATION
  • NULIFE has a letter of intent for an offtake for renewable fuel from a local Indigenous fuel distribution company. They will purchase up to one million litres annually.  

  • In discussions with a major oil sands company and completed a technological and economic analysis with under a 3-year project payback for a 2,300-bpd renewable diesel facility. 

  • In active discussions with one of Canada’s largest oil producers and refiners.  

  • In active discussions with a major energy management and refining company. 

  • In early discussions with multiple regional refineries. 

  • Conducting customer discovery calls with eastern United States organizations for renewable heating oil opportunities.
